Hourly rate lawyer-client fee agreements
This section of the website provides information on hourly rate fee agreements. Although it is not common for personal injury plaintiffs in British Columbia to pay by the hour, doing so may be appropriate for cases involving very serious injury. Further, vehicle owners or drivers who are:
- sued as defendants but found to be in in breach of the terms of their ICBC insurance policies; or
- at risk of being personally liable because the plaintiff’s claim may exceed the policy limits,
may have to hire lawyers on an hourly rate basis and may find information about hourly rate fee agreements useful.
